Even as plant-based cooking finds its way onto more and more menus, it’s still rare for a vegan restaurant to have a crossover appeal. That’s in part because old stereotypes remain. But its’s also because there are simply not enough restaurants like Seabirds Kitchen. The Costa Mesa vegan restaurant has become something of an institution, a place where eaters of all stripes can find health-conscious comfort.
The rustic original at The LAB remains an O.C. essential, featuring a menu of mostly vegatables and grains rather than the oft-maligned faux meats made from tempeh and seitan.
