Moulin Costa Mesa will move into SOCO by Mid-July
Moulin will soon be in at Soco in Costa Mesa.
“We are always evolving at Moulin,” said owner of Moulin Laurent Vrignaud. “With an emphasis on style and design, Soco is the ideal destination to expand upon our pastry arts program.”
Costa Mesa will serve sandwiches, crepes, salads and espresso drinks like his other places but it will be more than a cafe.
The emphasis will be on an “elevated pastry program” with patisserie and vienoisserie made in-house to serve as a center for expanding production. A 17-foot glass pastry case and exhibition-style kitchen will allow diners to watch chefs preparing wedding cakes as well as classics such as croquembouche, fraisier (strawberry) and opera (almond, coffee, chocolate) cakes, baba au rhum and more specialty items.
The 40-seat restaurant will have a patio facing the courtyard and Vrignaud hopes the bakery and dining areas will become a gathering place filled with “the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and touch of Paris.”
Vrignaud has also picked the perfect date for an opening celebration: Sunday, July 14—Bastille Day.
Find it: 3303 Hyland Ave., Costa Mesa, moulin.com
Open: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily starting Sunday, July 14.
