Costa Mesa Police Department Offers A Glimpse of the Dark Web Through South Coast Metro Alliance Business/Police Partnership

SOUTH COAST METRO, CA, April 09, 2019 – On Thursday, May 2, 2019, Detective Daniel Holl of the Costa Mesa Police Department will shine a light on the mysterious Dark Web, a hidden portion of the internet that cannot be found using traditional search engines or browsers.

The presentation will focus on crypto currency, including the electronic cash called Bitcoin, along with accessing the Dark Web through the anonymous web browser TOR. Detective Holl will discuss the use of Virtual Private Network (VPNS) to protect online security and maintain data security. Dark Web-related arrests and investigations that led to the seizure of narcotics, firearms and Bitcoin will also be presented.

The presentation will take place from 11:45 until 1:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hotel Santa Ana/Orange County Airport located at 201 E. MacArthur Boulevard. There will be complimentary self-parking.

There is no cost for South Coast Metro Alliance members. Fee for nonmembers is $35 per person.
