When hotel guests and members of the public enter the Costa Mesa Marriott in South Coast Metro, Orange County, California’s Urban Center, www.southcoastmetro.com, they may think they’ve walked into an art gallery.

That’s because the luxury 11-floor, 253-suites hotel has recently joined forces with Orange County Fine Arts (OCFA) to create a permanent display of works created by 20 award-winning, Orange County-based artists.

The hotel is hosting an artists’ showcase event for the public, Saturday, March 12 from 5 until 7 PM, including live music, and complimentary beverages including wine and beer, along with tasty hors d’oeuvres.

The collection is an eclectic mix of contemporary art: acrylics, collage, mixed media, oils, calligraphy, digital photos, fused glass, and watercolors. The artists include Eren Alptekin, Nancy Anderson, Robert Bucci, Barbara Close, William Fisher, Teri Gammalo, Bob Hogue, Ernie Jones, Ken Jones , Diane Lamboley, Lynleigh Love, Maureen MacDonald, Mike Martinet, Tony Meehleis, Vicki Morris, Maureen Nolen, Diane Ortlieb, Lara Ralston, Ellen Seefeldt, Aurelia Thompson, and Rebecca Waters.

It’s a fitting addition given the hotel’s proximity to Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the Orange County Museum of Art, which is under construction, and many displays of fine artworks available for the public to view.

“We are excited about the future of Costa Mesa Marriott and are thrilled to announce that amazing art created by local artists is featured throughout the hotel, thanks to our blossoming relationship with OCFA/Showcase Gallery,” said General Manager Hector Santa Cruz.

“Art is in the eye of the beholder. We are thrilled to invite more beholders to experience our beautiful hotel. We thank OCFA President Maureen McDonald, who has been an amazing partner in this process.”

Santa Cruz said that Costa Mesa, known as the City of the Arts, provided an eclectic backdrop full of inspiration for the property’s recently completed $17 million renovation with enhancements made throughout the hotel that were designed to provide an amazing experience for every guest.

“South Coast Metro is an art lover’s destination,” said South Coast Metro Alliance Executive Director Diane Pritchett. “The collection at the Costa Mesa Marriott adds to the many visual artworks here that complement our other ‘arts,’ like the art of dining at more than 100 restaurants within a one-mile radius, and the art of shopping at global shopping destination South Coast Plaza.”
